Jack and I babysitting Ali and Lily

Today, Jack and I watched Lily and Ali. First, it was just Lily while Ali and Beth went to gymnastics. Then Beth went to work out and left us Ali as well. They had a lot of fun. They raced to the front door, they raced to eat all the pizza stick and cheeto-s first, they fought over the bunny chair, they baked a birthday cake and sang happy birthday, and they pretended to take a nap. It was good fun. Lily was cracking up watching Jack and Ali.

Kansas City Zombie Walk '09

Demian participated in the Kansas City Zombie Walk in the Crossroads District. It was a pretty decent turnout. There were about 50 zombies, and a few supporters that didn't dress up. I tagged along so I could take pictures. The Zombie parade was quite the spectacle. Lots of reactions; shock, fright, confusion. There were lots of great characters/zombies/costumes. Demian was a clown. He carried a life-like jell-o brain. His favorite costume the Kill Bill, complete with a sword, through her abdomen. It was interesting to see how the blood was thrown, splattered, poured on. We walked all through the Crossroads District. That night was First Friday. There were lots of people out enjoying the arts; music, art, dance, etc. As the group made their way through the crowd, we came across some dj's. They saw all the zombies, and right away played Michael Jackson's Thriller. It was pretty funny.

Jack's first train ride

Friday morning, I woke Jack up at 6:45 to ride the train to Decatur. We got there just in time to get our tickets and jump on the train. He was so excited to ride "Thomas." He sat by the window and ate his breakfast, while watching everything zoom by. We arrived in St. Louis at 1:10. We sat in the bus terminal while we waited for our train to Lincoln. I did not want to carry our bags, and try to keep an eye on Jack to do any sightseeing while we waited. We had a minor meltdown when we got lunch. Thankfully, it was time to get on the next train. Almost immediately after we got on board, he cuddled up, and fell asleep. We got to Lincoln at 5:30, where Carli and Nini were waiting for us. We stopped at the Korn Krib for dinner, and came home. He was far too excited to eat. He got on his swim trunks, and got in the pool. He didn't care that the water was 73 degrees, and it was sprinklin outside!! When it started raining, it didn't take long for him to get settled in. Before too long, he was on the computer, playing Tranformers. Today, he practiced diving. He had fun swimming with Carli and Charlotte. He didn't want to get out, even though he was shivering. Tyler came over, and Carli, Tyler, Nini and I played dominoes. Darlene came for a short visit, bringing us some cake. Carli, Tyler, Jack, and I went for a ride. Carli wanted to practice driving. I wanted Jack to fall asleep. Thankfully, he did. Carli did pretty good!

Lunch with Daddy

Today, we met Daddy for lunch at the Pizza Shoppe. It was delicious. Jack ate a piece and a half of pizza!! He played the racing game twice! After lunch, Daddy bought Jack a Star Wars Lego pack and a pool!! We put the Star Wars Lego pack together. Jack loves the little storm troopers and their cool helmets and guns. We will have to wait for warmer weather to put up the pool. Jack is pretty excited! We are heading back to Decatur for a week. We are going to ride the train! Jack is pretty excited. I'm nervous. We have a 2 hour lay over in St Louis. Maybe it will be enough time for lunch and some picture opportunities. We can't wait to enjoy that pool!! It is supposed to get pretty warm this weekend.

Concert at Starlight Theatre

Demian and I went to see Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction playing at Starlight Theatre. We had a delicious dinner at his poker buddy's house, Jack. Both bands sounded phenomenal. I did make it out of the concert with camera! Very proud of myself! Jack stayed with Susan. I got an ok report. He is a wild man. He gets too excited. He played video games with Alex and Eric. He did not eat very well. Surprisingly, he did not fall asleep until right before we picked him up. He did not get a nap during the day, so I assumed he would conk out early. It's good to know he's comfortable at Paul and Susan's house. When we got there, he was.... in his undies. He must've played hard, because he didn't wake up until 10 o'clock today! Today, we are going to have lunch with Daddy.

Union Station

Today, Jack and I went to Union Station to listen to the KC Symphony and see some fireworks. Jack fell asleep when I pulled into the parking lot. He slept through the first half of the Marine Corps Brass in Blue. He woke up, danced for a lil bit, then decided he wanted to go inside. We hung out most of the day with Susan, Alex and Sara. They were manning the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stand. Jack had fun looking at the train set that was set up. And riding the "alligator" to the observation deck. Sara, Jack and I tried to sell some of the ice cream bars, but, the fireworks and band pretty well drowned out our yelling. Jack was a pretty good salesman. He caught on real quick to "Ice cream, $1." Most people looked at us like we were crazy!! We were graciously paid with goodies. Jack got a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I got chocolate covered strawberries!

Memorial Day Weekend

On Saturday, we went to Jiggle Jam at Crown Center. Eric and Alex joined us. Eric and Jack rode the train. They also went through the jumbo bouncy train and moonwalk jungle gym. We listened to the music while dippin our toes in the fountains. The boys had a great time running through the big fountain. Jack and Eric went "fishing." Jack got a bike tag and candy, and Eric got candy. We all got some Dippin Dots. Then we sat and relaxed while listening to a music activity. Jack kind of played the sticks. Eric and Alex had fun clapping and tapping along. They both got Jiggle Jam tattoos. We tried to see the Lego exhibit, but got there too late. It was closed for the day. We had Haye's for dinner. Yum!
